Legendary Baseball Broadcaster Visits KRUI and UI

Houston Astros broadcaster Milo Hamilton will visit the UI campus Friday, Nov. 7 for a series of events, including a free, public question-and-answer session at 2:30 p.m. in Room 101, Becker Communication Studies Building.

Earlier that day, listeners can tune into 89.7 FM to hear KRUI Sports Director Jordan Loperena interview Hamilton. The interview begins at noon.

Hamilton, a native of Fairfield, Iowa, graduated from the UI in 1949 and became a highly respected sports broadcaster covering college and professional baseball, basketball, football, golf and boxing.  While with the Atlanta Braves, he was known for calling Hank Aaron’s record-breaking 715th home run in April 1974. Hamilton was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 2000.

KRUI is sponsoring his visit with Communication and Sports Studies Departments.
