Administrative Director


Students interested in careers in broadcasting, accounting, public relations, journalism, and management will benefit from work in the Administrative Department at KRUI. It affords them an opportunity to practice their skills in oral and written communications and introduces them to a general overview of public relations. They will become acquainted with accounting and financial management situations that will assist in developing the ability to make informed decisions later in their professional careers. Students also learn to interact with other external departments, such as the University Business Office, in a productive manner.

Duties and Responsibilities

a) current happenings at KRUI

b) updates on alumni around the country: jobs, promotions, deaths, etc.

c) current Iowa City/Coralville happenings as they relate to KRUI

6) Maintain a file of all applications both approved and disapproved.

a) public ascertainment meeting records

b) letters from listeners

c) programming information

d) FCC documents and correspondence

8) Maintain a media file which includes:

a) any newspaper articles having anything to do with KRUI

b) advertisements run by KRUI

c) editorials concerning KRUI

12) Meet regularly with the General Manager to discuss budgetary concerns and financial goals.

15) Place orders for equipment with approval of Operations Director and General Manager.

18) Evaluate Administrative Department staff in accordance with Evaluation Procedures.

19) Attend all management meetings.

20) Perform any other reasonable duties assigned by the General Manager.

21) The Administrative Director is required to fulfill 10 hours of office time per week.

Supervision Received


Supervision is by the General Manager.

Supervision Exercised


The Administrative Director has authority over the staff members of the Administrative Department.
