IT Director

 

Duties and Responsibilities 

    1) Develop in house computer applications and databases programs to facilitate DJs, listeners and other director positions:

      1. Integrate the proprietary NexGen platform with the KRUI DJ database application
      2. Adapt the real-time playlist for use in charting
      3. Provide a searchable/sortable database application to archive past playlists
      4. Ways to integrate the real-time playlist with the KRUI webstream
 

2) Oversee encoding/archiving of KRUI music

      1. Manage encoding of KRUI music in a manageable but lossless compression
      2. Plan for tagging of encoded music, allowing for distinctions (e.g.: profanity/non-profanity, genre, etc.)
 

3) Design and maintain KRUI website.  Information to be included:

      1. Recent KRUI news and events
      2. Links to webstreams
      3. Director contact information
      4. Music submission guidelines
      5. Music playlists (Top 30, specialty)
      6. On-air schedule with links to specialty show websites and/or email addresses
      7. Application materials and information for potential directors, assistant directors, and staff
      8. Fundraising / Donation information.
 

3) Solicit information from directors on adaptation of database for future uses 

4) In-house development of other computer programs to facilitate the other directors’ jobs at KRUI 

5) Update website with new material within two (2) days of being contacted by a Department 

    6) Hire necessary staff and see that they are properly trained to ensure IT Departmental duties are completed without fail (see also Organizational Structure, Hiring Procedure). 

    7)  Evaluate IT Department staff in accordance with Evaluation Procedures. 

8)  Attend all management meetings. 

9)  Perform any other reasonable duties assigned by the General Manager.

Supervision Received

Supervision is by the General Manager. 

Supervision Exercised 

The IT Director has authority over the staff members of the Applications Development Department.
